Both nationally and locally the creative and cultural workforce is still not truly representative of modern Britain.

Crucially, in the West of England our creative and cultural businesses are missing out on the diverse range of skills, ideas and experience that are essential to the sustained growth of a highly regarded and thriving sector.

#Create50in15 is a new movement taking place across the West of England; re-starting the conversation, generating awareness and re-setting the agenda and pledge around diversity and fair access in the creative and cultural sector.

The Arts Council have already promised to no longer support arts organisations who offer unpaid internships, creating a level playing field for those entering the industry – What is your pledge?

West of England Local Enterprise Partnership  are asking 50 creative or cultural businesses to pledge 50 opportunities or offers of support; and include diversity and fair access as a principle part of their business activity in 2015.

Whether that’s creating an opportunity to take on an apprentice who is from an under represented background, or a pledge from a company to put staff through a diversity awareness training program – It’s all working towards the same goal.

We recognise that many businesses in the creative and cultural sector are already aware of this issue and are making positive steps to improve their contribution and we want to recognise them too.

Are you already making a significant pledge to increase diversity and fair access in your workforce? Then let us all join together to celebrate your achievements and join up our programmes!

#Create50in15 is driven by YOU – You set the agenda. You make the pledge. You change the landscape of diversity and fair access in your region.
