Plume of Feathers, Near Langford, Somerset
What a find!
The Plume of Feathers has long been a favourite somerset pub in our family and serves consistently good food and is very reasonably priced. Fantastically located, this 17th century inn is a real gem in the English countryside, with five beautiful en-suite rooms available too for Bed and Breakfast, making it the ideal spot to stay for walkers and mountain bikers.
Usual pub favourites and specials are available but we highly recommend the ham, double egg and chips which is probably the best you will have ever tasted!
The Plume of Feathers has an unusual twist in that part of the same family that own it, also own long established Pizza Provençale in Regent Street, Clifton in Bristol and as a result the Plume as it is known locally also has the same excellent pizza menu. One word of warning however, watch out for “Le hot shot” as the name suggests this pizza is seriously hot!
On a beautiful sunny somerset night we visited and sat outside in the sun before going inside as the sun went down for supper.
A real find, with a great outlook over a stream and valley, this pub gets a fairly unusual 4 Forks from FearOnFood.
What we ate and drank on 6th June 2013:
3 Pints of Thatchers Dry Cider
2 Pints of Butcombe Ale
1 Ham, Egg and Chips
1 Poulet Pizza
