Peking Chinese Restaurant, Bath
Since Peking opened it’s doors in 1985 it has been a hit with locals and tourists and as one of the few remaining traditional Chinese restaurants in the area continues in it’s popularity today.
We have been visiting the restaurant since it first opened, in fact we were reminded yesterday that we were there on the second day it opened, and still ran by the same family today it is good to see such a well established restaurant still going in the changing economic environment and with such a varied offering if restaurants now available.
The restaurant has benefited from a fairly recent updating and is a fresh, clean environment and you are certain to receive a warm welcome.
There is a traditional menu as well as “eat as much as you like” options which gives you a really good choice.
The garlic salt ribs are our favourite but most of the dishes we have tried we have enjoyed and I don’t think we have ever had a bad meal in all the time we have been visiting.
The only thing with Chinese food is often the amount of salt and sugar in the dishes! This adds to the flavour of course but might go some way to explaining how we got through a bottle of white wine with ease!
Overall a friendly, family-owned restaurant in an excellent location for the Theatre Royal and the many other attractions this World Heritage City has to offer.
They open at 6pm in the evening too so you can have a bite to eat before visiting the Theatre. The only day that they are closed is Sunday and they also do takeaways.
Overall we like Peking and give it three forks based on today’s review.
