Beacon to host glamorous ball as part of charity’s 140th anniversary celebrations
A Dudley charity’s 140th anniversary ball is promising to be a glittering success.
The glamorous ‘Hollywood Ball’ being hosted by Sedgley-based sight loss charity Beacon will take place on Friday, October 9, at the Copthorne Hotel, Merry Hill.
Beacon’s ball includes an appearance by guest speaker Dr Stephen Fear, an expert entrepreneur and philanthropist, as well as a three-course meal and drinks.
Kelly Vickers, fundraising and event officer, said: “The 140th anniversary of the charity is such an important milestone that we wanted a special event to mark the occasion.”
The black tie event will be sponsored by Wolverhampton firm Oosha Ltd, whose spokesman, Chris Parkes, said are “very proud” to help Beacon mark their significant milestone.
He said: “Beacon is such a well-known Black Country charity, having supported people with sight loss across this region for so many years.
“Although our business is only six years old and, on the surface, completely different from the charity, we believe we uphold similar principles – helping people to negotiate their day-to-day challenges, providing solutions to enable them to work more efficiently and effectively, and delivering practical advice at the point of need.”
Kelly added: “Big occasions of this type do require an element of investment, so we are hugely grateful to Oosha Ltd for stepping forward as principal sponsor of the event.
“Corporate support is vital for charities like Beacon as we seek innovative ways to raise the vital funding needed to deliver life-changing services to people coping with sight loss across our region.”
Tickets for the ball cost £30 per person and can be purchased from the Beacon website at www.beaconvision.org/Event/beacon-hollywood-ball
