Another Great Briton: Andy Murray wins Wimbledon
Congratulations to Andy Murray who won Wimbledon today being the first Brit to take the title since Fred Perry 77 years ago.
After playing an incredible match against World number one Novak Djokovic, in searing heat with a court temperature of over 40 degrees, Murray went on to win as a packed centre court supported him all the way.
Djokovic praised Murray’s win at the end, acknowledging how important it was to him and the British fans and the pressure Murray has been under to break the back of a 77 year run without a Brit taking the honours. The sign of a true winner in my opinion as well as a gentleman who was not bitter in defeat despite being an extremely determined and talented individual.
No doubt Murray will have inspired a generation of young tennis players, other sports people and the wider community in general with his down to earth spirit and true determination to see his dreams come to fruition. Andy Murray always believed he would one day win Wimbledon and today his belief has become a reality.
